Event venue

The SG[Nordic-Baltic] 2026 will be held at the Finnish Meteorological Institute (FMI) Dynamicum building (https://en.ilmatieteenlaitos.fi/how-to-find-dynamicum ), located at the University of Helsinki Kumpula campus. Dynamicum offers diverse learning and teaching spaces, perfect for a collaborative event such as SG[Nordic-Baltic].

The venue is easily accessible by the Helsinki tram lines 6 and 8, with the closest stop being “Kumpulan kampus”. It is also reachable by bus. For all transportation options, visit https://en.ilmatieteenlaitos.fi/how-to-find-dynamicum.

How to get there

The main airport of the area is the Helsinki-Vantaa airport. From there, train lines I and P bring you directly to the city centre in 30-35 minutes. 

Helsinki can also be reached by ferry from Tallinn and Stockholm, among others. Both ferry terminals are conveniently located, with tram and bus lines connecting you to the city centre.

The public transport company of the Helsinki region is called HSL (Helsingin seudun liikenne). Tickets for public transport can be bought directly on your phone through the HSL app, which is available in English. The app also has a route planner, which shows you how to get around the city, as well as which type of ticket you need to buy for your journey. You will not need to take public transport during the event, only for getting to the venue in the morning, and getting back to your accommodation in the evening.

The Helsinki area is divided into HSL zones, and you will need to buy the corresponding ticket (which is shown in the HSL app route planner). All tickets include 2-3 zones. For example, if you are staying in the centre of Helsinki, to get to the event venue at the University of Helsinki (FMI Dynamicum), you will need an AB ticket. Some relevant locations and their HSL zones are:

  • Helsinki city centre: A
  • Helsinki central railway station: A
  • Kumpula campus: B
  • Helsinki-Vantaa airport: C
