The Space Generation Congress (SGC) is the annual meeting of the Space Generation Advisory Council always held in conjunction with the International Astronautical Congress (IAC) at the same hosting country. Every year, the SGC event receives about 150 outstanding students and young professionals who share a passion for space. Through the SGC, SGAC aims to give a voice to the young generation of space leaders so that they can share their opinions and perspectives concerning international space development. They are selected with a highly competitive application process open to our Space Generation international network. With SGC, SGAC aims to promote the voice of the next generation of space sector leaders on the topic of international space development.

The 21st edition of the Space Generation Congress (SGC) aims to celebrate the role of SGAC as a catalyst for the next generation of space professionals worldwide. With the theme “Building a space community to inspire, connect, and support humankind,” we aim to highlight the role of space as an enabler for socio-economic development, inspiring new generations and connecting the world. Read more about the event theme page.

Space Generation Congress Goals

The Space Generation Congress (SGC) is SGAC’s annual meeting in support of the United Nations (UN) Programme on Space Applications. Top university students and young professionals with a passion for space will travel from all around the globe to attend three days of the 21st SGC. Up to 150 delegates will enjoy an inspiring and resourceful engagement with their peers at the congress, held in Baku, on September 28-30 2022, prior to the 74th International Astronautical Congress (IAC). Delegates will gain exposure to perspectives on space issues from the world’s leading space organisations, including: space agencies, private companies, research entities, and universities. In demonstrating the symbiotic relationship, leaders from these space organisations gained fresh, innovative and bold perspectives from the incoming space generation.

SGAC acknowledges that this event is only possible thanks to the dedication and hard work of the SGC organising team and the continuous support of its partners. Therefore, SGAC would like to extend its gratitude to all the volunteers and sponsors that make this event possible every year. Through these generous contributions of time, effort, and resources, SGAC achieves its goals every year and creates a successful and memorable event.
