How to get to the event?

SG[France] 2023: Make Space! will take place at Enseirb Matmeca in Bordeaux, France, on Saturday May 13th 2023.

Coming to Bordeaux

🛫By Plane

  • Bordeaux’s Airport (BOD) is located in Mérignac (12 km west of the city center).
  • Toulouse (TLS) Airports and Biarritz (BIQ) are both a two-hour rail-ride away from Bordeaux.
  • There are direct flights to Bordeaux from Amsterdam (KLM) as well as several other locations in Europe or French distant cities.

🚅By Train

  • Strasbourg has direct connections to Paris, Toulouse, Marseille, Nantes, South-Western France, and Spain. Bordeaux Central Station is located near the center of Bordeaux, and is linked with the city’s tram and a direct bus line (Bus Line 31) to the venue. The bus stop is right in front of the train station and the line will take you to Talence.

🚗By Car

  • Bordeaux lies between three major highways.
  • The A10 (also labeled E5) from Paris, Orléans, Tours, Poitiers and joins directly the Bordeaux ring road. Please note that between Paris and Bordeaux, you will have to pay approximately 60 euros in tolls.
  • The A62 from Toulouse is connected to the major roads of the south of France or East of Spain which joins also directly the Bordeaux ring road. The highway toll on this route is about 20 euros.
  • The A63 links the western Spain border directly to Bordeaux.

Coming to ENSEIRB-MATMECA

ENSEIRB-MATMECA is located in the university field of Pessac-Talence-Gradignan. Talence is a town in the southern part of the Bordeaux Urban Community. It is about 15 minutes from the center of Bordeaux by car, and 35 minutes by public transport.

From the Airport

  • From Bordeaux-Mérignac Airport, it takes about 15-20 minutes by car/taxi. From the airport, a taxi will cost approximately 15-30 euros (rates are at the higher end at night, or during the weekend/holidays).
  • With public transport, you can take bus line 1 towards the city center and then get the tram B at “Victoire” stop. The tram will then take you right in front of the ENSEIRB.

From the Highway

  • From either direction, except the city center, join the A630 ring road and take exit 16 “Gradignan-Centre/Talence/Domaine Universitaire”. Keep right at the junction. At the roundabout, take the 3rd exit & go straight until the next roundabout. At the next roundabout, take the 3rd exit, and you will be able to see ENSEIRB’s building
  • For parking facilities, there are many free parking spaces just in front of the ENSEIRB or upstream in the Avenue des Facultés.

By Public Transport

  • The tram runs from 5:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m., with one tram every 5 minutes at peak hours.
  • To get to ENSEIRB-MATMECA take Tram “B” from the city center, towards “France Alouette (Pessac)” or “PESSAC Centre” and get off at “Arts et Métiers” station. Continue walking for about 200m. Then you will be able to see the venue.
