SGAC Announces the Winners of the 2023 NCAC-SLA Competition. The winners will be sponsored to attend the 4th North, Central American and Caribbeans Space Generation Workshop to be held on September 9th-10th 2023, in San José, Costa Rica.
In cooperation with OHB, SGAC are pleased to announce Danlei Chen, Ravneet Kaur and Nadia Lamera as the winners of the 2023 SGAC – OHB SE Competition. This competition sought innovative ideas on how humankind could benefit from Near Earth Asteroids (NEAs), how we could defend against the thread they pose, and how they can become a sustainable resource for the benefit of humankind. The winners will be sponsored to attend the 21st Space Generation Congress (September 28– 30 2023) and will be granted free access to the 74th International Astronautical Congress (October 2–6 2023) in Baku, Azerbaijan.

The African Space Leaders Award aims to recognise five SGAC members for their contributions to the space field in the SGAC region of Africa as well as to provide opportunities to talented individuals to attend the 7th African Space Generation Workshop (AF-SGW) that will take place in Harare, Zimbabwe during 29-30 November 2023.
After a very thorough selection process, the Selection Committee composed of SGAC Co-Chairs, Former Executive Director, Chief of Staff, members of the Executive Committee, and members of the Advisory Board has chosen Nikol Koleva to become the Deputy Executive Director (DED) of SGAC.
In the middle of May, I had the pleasure of interviewing Nia van Woggelum for the first edition of our new interview series ‘Women in Space for Safety and Sustainability’. Nia has over twelve years of experience producing composite products and is currently working as the Manager of Operations at GTM Advanced Structures. We spoke about her career journey, aspects of safety and sustainability that she encounters in her work, as well as her experiences as a woman of color in her field.
The Space Generation Advisory Council (SGAC) is beginning preparations for the 2024 12th Space Generation Fusion Forum (SGFF) to be held in Colorado Springs, CO – USA on April 6 - 8. The organization is seeking a professionally qualified young space leader to join the SGAC as the SGFF 2024 Deputy Manager.
