A note on the theme for this year’s SGC
The theme of the 20th Space Generation Congress (SGC) is diversity, access, and inclusion. One of the core principles of SGAC is “embracing diversity”, therefore, diversity, access and inclusion are at the heart of this year’s flagship event. With this year’s IAC theme being “Space for All”, the Space Generation Congress would like to take this opportunity to tackle the themes of inclusion, access and diversity in as many ways as possible. To make it a reality, the organizing team needs your help, since, as a SGAC member, you are the best representation of diversity in the organization (20000+ members in 160+ countries). Your first task to help us in this endeavor is therefore to apply for being a delegate at the 20th Space Generation Congress (SGC) being held in Paris later this year. Share your experience, your passion and do not limit yourself in your application!
The SGC 2022 delegate selection process for SGC is competitive. To help you along your way, here is a little information about the themes you might expect to see in the application to be a delegate at the 20th Space Generation Congress. Through your application we would like to get to know more about:
- You!
- Your Motivation to attend SGC 2022
- Your interest in space
- Your perspectives on diversity, access and inclusion
We look forward to receiving your application!
SGC Moderators
This year, we are offering select delegates the opportunity to contribute to the SGC as Working Group Moderators, alongside the SGC 2022 Organising Team. Moderators will coordinate a Working Group and facilitate team discussions about the Working Group Topic (Please see: Working Groups for more information about the planned topics for this year).
Tasks include:
- Work with Subject Matter Experts, Working Group speakers and conference delegates as a team, emphasizing good communication and moderating discussions
- Required to attend the Moderator’s training workshop (to be scheduled before SGC 2022)
- Provide respectful feedback during the discussions
- Answer and direct the discussions in a timely, polite, and fair manner
- Ensure SGC Working Groups are on task and on topic
- Follow up with working group members to coordinate and edit the group’s contribution to the SGC final report
- Report to the SGC Working Group Coordinators on progress and directions to be written for December 1st 2022
In order to support the training of moderators, selected applicants will have a dedicated SGC Moderators Workshop to prepare for the role. Selected SGC Moderators will receive a discounted registration fee for SGC 2022. The workshop aims to enhance your professional development, leadership, and international collaboration skills, as well as your verbal and written communication skills. Note that being selected for this position does not automatically imply that SGAC can provide funding for attending the Congress.
Estimated time commitment: 10 hours cumulative prior to SGC; 3 days during the SGC and 10 hours cumulative post SGC.
Period of Performance: 01 August 2022 to 01 December 2022
