SGAC is led by young aspiring space enthusiasts, students and young professionals under 35 years old from different backgrounds starting their career in space. Our goal is to help solidify their voice and present their ideas to leading space institutions such as United Nations, space agencies, leaders in the industry and academia.
Meet Davide Petrillo - the newly appointed Deputy Executive Director of SGAC. This interview will let you know him better as a person and as an SGAC member. Davide shared with us his vision on key aspects of SGAC and the goals he wants to achieve in the next few years. Humans are preparing to embark on journeys further than they have travelled before, to expand our knowledge of what lies beyond our home planet. The African Space Generation Workshop (AF-SGW) is a two day regional SGAC event that is held once a year in a different country in Africa. This year’s SGAC AF-SGW was held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, with the aim of bringing together space experts and young Africans to exchange ideas about how to advance space activities on the continent.
Keeping astronauts healthy is not just about keeping their vital signs in check. Making sure they perceive their environment as clearly as possible, that they are in good mental health, and that they can withstand the physical stresses on their brains in microgravity are all vital pieces of the puzzle.
There are few places where the idea of a space lawyer is accepted at face value. Space law is a niche area of the law that most people have never even considered. However, space law is a thriving area both within the aerospace industry as a vocation and the legal field in general. The United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (UNCOPUOS) and the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) created the five major building blocks of international space law.
